Phuket webcams live: Kata, Karon, Patong
Three live cams of Phuket's west coast on one page. A minute with them tells you what the sea is doing now: whether there are waves, whether it is raining and how busy the beach is.
Kata
Cam: SSS Dive & Surf. The south end of the beach, the main surf spot of the island.
Karon
Cam: Marina Phuket Resort. The southern part of Karon.
Patong

Cam: Patong Tower, 15th floor. This is a still frame, not video: reload the page for a new one.
The cams belong to their owners and are shown from their own players. If there is no picture, the cam is switched off on their side.
How to read the picture
- White water. One thin line at the shore means a calm sea. Several rows of foam mean there is a wave. The further out it starts to break, the bigger it is.
- The surface. Smooth and glassy: no wind, or wind from the land. Ruffled, with whitecaps: wind from the sea, and the water will be restless.
- People. If nobody is in the water while the sand is busy, the red flags are most likely up.
- The sky. A grey curtain over the sea means rain is falling or on its way.
What a cam will not show
A picture does not give you the wave height in metres, the time of the tide or what will happen in three hours. On the main page the same cams sit next to the numbers: wave height and period, wind, tide and a score from 0 to 10 for every beach, including the ones without cams. For flags and currents, see Red flags in Phuket.
In short
Where can I watch a live Kata beach webcam?
On this page and on the Surf main page: the cam of the SSS Dive & Surf school shows the south end of Kata live.
Is there a webcam at Karon beach?
Yes, the cam of the Marina Phuket Resort shows the southern part of Karon live.
Is there a webcam at Patong beach?
Yes, a cam on the 15th floor of Patong Tower. It serves a fresh still frame rather than video, updated every few minutes.
Are there webcams at Nai Harn, Kamala or Bang Tao?
We have not found public cams with a view of the water that can be shown on the site for these beaches. For them Surf shows forecast wave height, wind and tide.
How can I tell from a webcam whether there are waves?
Look at the white water. One thin line at the shore means a calm sea. Several rows of foam one behind another mean there is a wave, and the further out it starts breaking, the bigger it is.
